Brittany creates naturalistic, surrealistic paintings with themes of dreams, mortality and emotions. Her inspiration stems from a fascination with animals, allegories and nostalgia for other places and times. Her work becomes an outward expression of a personal dialogue and internal processing. She applies her training in representational art, including observational drawing and figure studies, to explore an ongoing curiosity with combining real and imagined scenery.
Brittany received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Jose State University. She also studied in Florence, Italy with the California State University International Program and took studio courses at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. Her time abroad greatly influenced her personal understanding of her art practice, and her time returning home helped her hone her voice and craft with her picture making. Currently she works out of her studio in Oakland, CA.
